MATLAB Mobile App Reviews

Nice

Works pretty well... Its not mentionned but you have to run Matlab as administrator in Windows (Vista & later) the 1st time youll install the connector. Not the most useful app, but fun.

Nice app

Need to be optimized.

Not too bad

That works quite well and the addition of a cloud service is welcome. However, Im still not convinced this is much better than a Remote Desktop app to trigger and monitor jobs on a remote machine. If only the cloud service would support any standard file transfer protocol, using Textastic or any similar text editor along Matlab Mobile (and/or Transmit), would make it a really usable development platform on the iPad.

Nice feature with sensor data but...

The ability to read sensor data from the iPhone is very interesting but please add a parameter to set up the refresh rate!

Finally!

I remember a conversation I had around 3 years ago with someone at mathwork about this kind of feature, imagine the power you now have in your hand, from anywhere: Now you can debug/fix your code! Even if a script is not working correctly, and you wont be near your PC for hours, you can correct the code and save some hour of idle time out of your computer :) (To the developer[s]: I remember asking to access computers workspace too, not sure if it will ever happen but I leave it here

Nice!

Nice one. How about the security issues? Is mathworks watching what we are programming?

I like the program but its not retina

The functionality is good. It does what it should and it is a great benefit to be able to work with MatLab on the iPad. Although I should say I didnt test it extensively. But I cannot see the Retina support that should come with the latest update. The logo, some buttons (also on the keyboard) and the figures appear not at all sharp on my retina iPad with iOS 5.1. I tried to restart but it didnt help. You can see big pixels. Curves on figures and on buttons have too many edges. Really cant see any visual improvements here.

Still no local computing

The iPad is a computer. Why do I need another one?

iPhone 6

Nice but plain ugly ok the iPhone 6 ... Please add the new screen resolution support!

Good

You get what you purchase, a mobile version of Matlab. Cannot replace the computer version, but works fine. A must have for Math Students!

Very good start

This is very good for iPhone, but it would be so nice to have an iPad version with the possibility to edit scripts and see simulink files. VGA out would be very interesting for teaching.

Cant edit scripts

Until you can edit scripts, its hard to see the use of this app

For what it is, this is fantastic

If you want to run quick scripts, or do some simple calculations, or do some quick plots or visualizations, this is an awesome app. There is many a time where I need to use MATLAB and I dont have access to a computer, and only the iPad. Despite the fact that the FAQ states that you can only use this app using their cloud or through your network, you CAN connect to your computer over the Internet using this app. Simply enable port forwarding at port 31415 on your router, and set the IP to connect in the app settings to be the external IP of your computer. Also, grabbing the install files to enable MATLAB mobile for use with MATLAB was very easy. All in all, fantastic app.

Slow and useless

I wouldnt waste my time. The app is extremely slow.

Crashes on iPhone 6s Plus install

Crashes on iPhone 6s Plus install, stalls at splash screen. Has to be manually terminated.

Can not connect!

I can not connect to my computer. Ive tried several times. Does anyone know how to?

USELESS

Its absolutely useless without a PC. Dont worry, neither a Mac is usefull.

Interface problem

When typing, the writing box doesnt relocate on top of the keyboard, and remains hidden under it in the bottom left corner. Please fix it! (iPad Mini with iOS 6.1.3)

Lightweight app that needs competition to get better

The app is described as a lightweight Matlab environment. It definitely is. Its essentially the command line tool from Matlab. While its helpful on the go for quick calculations and graphs its not optimized for platforms like the iPad Pro(lacks resolution and split screen support) and doesnt have the Matlab editor which would make it a great mobile application. I suspect it will take someone porting over octave to iOS in order for the Matlab team to make something great.

Very limited

I have a non-expiring license but cant associate my new iPad with my license because the maintenance period has expired! Make know sense at all!
